Hubungan Antara Durasi Tidur dengan Memori Jangka Pendek Siswa Siswi SMP Darul Hikam Kota Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2015-2016

Abstract: Memory, learning, and attention are depend on amount or duration of good sleep quality especially in children and adolescence. Short-term memory is human thought which can store information in limited amount and for a short time. One of the best ways to determine the quality of short-term memory is using Digit Span Test. This study aim was to determine the association between sleep duration with short-term memory of the students of Darul Hikam Junior High School Bandung Academic Year 2015-2016. In this study, there was 78 subject examined, consisting of 37 students with sufficient sleep duration and 41 students with insufficient sleep duration. This research was used analytic observational method with cross sectional approach and statistically tested using Chi Square. The result showed that there were 22 students (28,21%) with sufficient sleep who had optimal short-term memory. Besides, there were 33 students (42,31%) with insufficient sleep who had optimal short-term memory. The result of the analysis of the association between sleep duration with short-term memory was obtain p-value of 0,042 (p<0,05). And also proven that sleep could affect cognitif function especially short-term memory. There was a significant association between sleep duration with short-term memory on the students of  Darul Hikam Junior High School Bandung Academic Year 2015-2016.

Abstrak: Memori, pembelajaran, dan perhatian bergantung pada jumlah waktu tidur yang berkualitas terutama pada anak-anak dan remaja. Memori jangka pendek merupakan pikiran manusia yang dapat menampung informasi dalam jumlah terbatas dan hanya sementara. Salah satu cara menilai kualitas memori jangka pendek adalah dengan menggunakan Digit Span Test. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara durasi tidur dengan memori jangka pendek siswa SMP Darul Hikam Kota Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2015-2016. Pada penelitian ini didapatkan 78 subjek penelitian, terdiri dari 37 siswa dengan durasi tidur cukup dan 41 siswa dengan durasi tidur kurang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode observasional analitik dengan pendekatan cross sectional dan uji statistik menggunakan uji Chi Square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada siswa dengan durasi tidur cukup didapatkan memori jangka pendek optimal sebanyak 22 siswa (28,21%). Pada siswa dengan durasi tidur kurang didapatkan memori jangka pendek optimal sebanyak 33 siswa/i (42,31%). Hasil analisis dari hubungan antara durasi tidur dengan memori jangka pendek didapatkan p-value 0,042 (p<0,05). Hal ini membuktikan bahwa tidur memiliki pengaruh terhadap fungsi kognitif khususnya terhadap memori jangka pendek. Terdapat hubungan yang bermakna antara durasi tidur dengan memori jangka pendek pada siswa SMP Darul Hikam Kota Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2015-2016.
