Uji Toksisitas Akut Ekstrak Air Ubi Jalar (Ipomoea batatas L.) Ungu terhadap Organ Hepar Berdasarkan Kadar AST dan ALT

Abstract


Abstract. Purple sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L.) is one of the natural ingredients used as traditional medicine to overcome health problems. Purple sweet potato contains several phytochemical substances including anthocyanin which has a fairly high antioxidant effect. In addition there are also toxic effects of purple sweet potato, its called furanoterpenoid that cause hepatotoxicity, pulmonary edema, and pneumonia. This study aims to determine the acute toxicity of purple sweet potato water extract to liver organ based on AST and ALT levels. This research method is an experimental laboratory. Determination of dosage groups based on the proposed new method uses 11 rats, each given an oral dose of purple sweet potatowater extract in 50, 200, 400, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000 mg / kg BW and one rat only given water as a control group. Observations were made after 24 hours of extract administration. The results of measurements of AST and ALT levels showed an increase in certain doses. In this study, purple sweet potato water extract has acute toxicity to AST and ALT levels in certain doses.

Abstrak. Ubi jalar (Ipomoea batatas L.) ungu merupakan salah satu bahan alam yang dijadikan obat tradisional untuk mengatasi masalah kesehatan. Ubi jalar ungu mengandung beberapa substansi fitokimia diantaranya adalah antosianin yang memiliki efek antioksidan yang cukup tinggi. Selain itu terdapat juga efek toksisitas dari ubi jalar ungu yaitu adanya furanoterpenoid yang menyebabkan hepatotoksisitas, edema paru, juga pneumonia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui toksisitas akut ekstrak air ubi jalar ungu terhadap organ berdasarkan kadar AST dan ALT. Metode penelitian ini adalah eksperimental laboratorium. Penentuan kelompok dosis berdasarkan proposed new method menggunakan 11 ekor tikus yang masing-masing diberi dosis oral ekstrak air ubi jalar ungu 50, 200, 400, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000 mg/kg BB dan satu tikus hanya diberikan air sebagai kelompok kontrol. Pengamatan dilakukan setelah 24 jam pemberian ekstrak. Hasil pengukuran kadar AST dan ALT menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pada pemberian dosis tertentu. Pada penelitian ini, ekstrak air ubi jalar ungu memiliki toksisitas akut terhadap kadar AST dan ALT dalam dosis tertentu.
