Memori Jangka Pendek pada Anak Remaja Sekolah Umum dan Sekolah Tahfidz Al Qur’an

Abstract


Abstract. According to Stevenson & Richman 5 to 7% of children in the general population experience SLI (specific language impairment) have been found to have extremely poor phonological short-term memory function. Learning disabilities, which include language impairments and motor impairments are thought to impact almost 8% of children in the United States. Along with the development of science, it is known that listening to the murattal of the Qur'an will increase the effectiveness of memory. Besides, it was reported that listening to Al Qur’an will improve memory skills. This study aims to compare the short memories in teenagers who attended the Al Qur'an and who attended public school. This study uses a cross-sectional method by using total sampling technique to 60 students from grade 8, from 13 through 14 years old of junior high school, 30 students from public schools and 30 students from the tahfidz schools. The results of the study were analyzed through an unpaired t-test. The results showed that the score of short-term memory of public school students vs the tahfidz school student, 6.00 ± 1.29 vs 10.03 ± 1.54 (p = 0,000). The results of this study indicated Al Qur'an increased short-term memory.

Abstrak. Menurut Stevenson & Richman 5 sampai 7 % anak-anak dalam populasi umum mengalami SLI (spesific language impairement) atau dapat didefinisikan sebagai kegagalan dalam mengembangkan pemahaman bahasa dan memiliki fungsi memori jangka pendek phonology yang buruk. Ketidakmampuan belajar, yang meliputi gangguan bahasa dan gangguan motorik berdampak pada hampir 8% anak-anak di Amerika Serikat. Seiring dengan pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan diketahui bahwa mendengarkan murattal Al Qur’an akan meningkatkan efektivitas memori. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk menganalisis perbandingan kemampuan memori jangka pendek pada anak remaja yang menghafal Al Qur’an dan tidak menghafal Al Qur’an. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah observasional analitik dengan data kuantitatif dan menggunakan desain cross sectional study dengan menggunakan bahan penelitian digit span test. Sampel dari penelitian ini 60 siswa dan siswi kelas 8 SMP usia 13 sampai 14 tahun, 30 siswa sekolah umum dan 30 siswa sekolah tahfidz Al Qur’an. Penelitian dianalisis melalui uji t tidak berpasangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rerata skor memori jangka pendek siswa sekolah umum vs sekolah tahfidz Al Qur’an 6,00 ± 1,29 vs 10,03 ± 1,54 (p=0,000). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan Al Qur’an meningkatkan memori jangka pendek.
